Also, big news: Dylan wrote to tell me that Disgusting Room is at the printers! Might might might be out for real at MOCCA.

And now a brief plea to you, the readers of this blog. I'd really like to be able to go to Brooklyn Comics Fest to stand behind this book (the preview version of it) as well as a lot of other work I've made over the year. Unfortunatley, I don't have a ton of disposable income at the moment.

BUT...over the last year, I'v drawn this book. And if you're a fan of my art, I'm offering a once-in-a-lifetime shot at buying pages from the book at super low prices.

Almost everything I've posted from the book I'm willing to sell for about half of what I would normally charge for the pages. So right now I'd let the work go for around 100 to 150 dollars per page. Some of the pages I've posted have already been bought in advance but most of them are available. Let me know if you're interested in any of the stuff that's up. I also have high quality scans of the enitre book, if you wanna see more.

ALSO. Some of you may be wondering what's happening with Mollie Goldstrom's book, 1883, that I raised money (along with Nate Doyle) for about a year ago. The book was supposed to be out by now, but Mollie is being very careful about finishing the project, as she should be. We're hoping to bring the book out within a year. It will happen! And from what I've seen so far...the book will be a knock out. Previews of it soon. Hold your breath.

The great Jesse McManus and I are making a comic together called SPIDER MONKEY. We came up with the idea/tone together...I wrote it, Jesse drew it...but, really, because Jesse is a total genius I gave as much leeway in the script as possible for Jesse to "stretch out." Anyway, Jesse just sent over these drawings from the first issue (still in progress...look for it at The Brooklyn Comics Fest!) and they are incredibly beautiful. Honored to work with Jesse.

While I'm still hard at work on my upcoming book (which should come out in December...it'll be called "The Disgusting Room") I just dont currently have access to a big scanner to handle those oversized pages. But here's some other stuff I've been working on.

First: a preview of a comic by me for the upcoming PLUT anthology. The book will include stories by Clara Bessijelle, Emelie Östergren, Hanna Gustavsson, Juliacks and Joakim Ojanen.

Second: a mini comic I made for Mocca called Devotional.

Hey, here is some info about a fund raiser I'm setting up...the first step in a long time dream of publishing comics. Read on:

Please join us for a fund raiser benefiting cartoonists Mollie Goldstrom and Nate Doyle! Both cartoonists have major new comics in the works---Goldstrom with "1883" and Doyle with "Crooked Teeth #5."

This is a fund raiser for upstart publisher Sweetheart books to gather some start up funds to put out Mollie's work in the format and volume it deserves....and for Nate to self-publish the latest issue of his beloved comic.

And it'll also be a really fun party! Live music! Cheap drinks! Original art for sale! Supporting the local arts community! How could you miss something like this? Isn't this the reason you live in New York in the first place?? OK we will see you there right? OK cool!

Here is a un-lettered/un-colored page by me...and below a print by Arthur Dove.

When i look at this Arthur Dove print, I always wonder what he thought of it. it seems like something that was important to him---but how could he be sure anyone else would love it? It's so strange and almost unfinished. But he knew it was good.

I am nowhere near Arthur Dove of course---but that's how I feel about my drawings sometimes. I get so much out of them but you can enver be sure anyone will see what you see in them---even when you know there's something to see.

When I'm away from new York I have a little controlled world. A small table to draw on, a movie to watch later, no job to go to. Very easy. But somehow I get things done in New York despite everything. I am going over the pdf for Windy Corner #2 and all I can think is "when did i have the time to do these drawings?" There is a surge of pride to remember that you made the time.

I know I keep saying that Windy Corner #1 is almost out and it still enver seems to come out. But now Richard Hahn is officially done with his back up comic, and it's just a matter of time before it's printed up! I really think you'll all feel that it was worth the wait.

I posted some photos below from when I was in Baltimore a few weeks ago. All these photos were taken on Howard Street, in a really quiet, rundown area of the city. Every building on the block was really beatiful. The first photos are of an incredible old movie theater, with paintings still up from when a Billie Holdiay movie was playing. Next to it there was this Kurt Schwitters esque building. And then there was some Gary Baseman esque public art on a discount storefront. A beatiful neighberhood.

I apologize for the photos being so low quality. I took them with a disposable camera.

This is page 1 of a new story I'm working on. Panel 1 isn't lettered yet. The guy in the hat should be saying something along the lines of "Francis can you go to the store and buy us some groceries?" There should also be a label next to him saying "Francis' dad" and an arrow pointing to him.
